Biography
Jason W. McLean grew up in Great Falls, Montana after being adopted and moving around the western United States when he was younger. He moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota in 1995, where he attended the University of North Dakota. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 1999 and his law degree in 2002. Jason moved to the Fargo-Moorhead area in 2003. He was admitted to practice in Minnesota in 2003 and in North Dakota in 2004.
Jason is a member of both the North Dakota and Minnesota Bar Associations. He served as the Secretary/Treasurer, Vice Chair, Chair, and Past-Chair of the Family Law Section of the North Dakota State Bar Association. He was also an active member of the Keeping Kids first committee, a non-profit organization, during the 2014 North Dakota election. He served as the co-chair of the Family Law Task Force from 2015 to 2017. Jason was also a finalist for the North Dakota East Central District Judgeship in 2017.
In addition to his duties as an advocate, Jason is a state approved Parenting Investigator and Guardian ad Litem in North Dakota and a Custody Evaluator in Minnesota. He is also certified mediator. Jason presented and lectured at various educational family law seminars on the issues of adoption, divorce, paternity, parental rights, ethics, and litigation.
In his spare time, Jason enjoys traveling, golfing, bowling, politics, and spending time with his wife and son.
